The fix queue

Also called Doug's fixes, Get found fixes, SEO to-do list.

The fix queue is the list of changes Doug drafts after each weekly check to help you show up more often. Each fix says what's wrong, shows the evidence, and comes with the work already drafted, like a new page, a corrected Google profile field, or a review reply. You publish it, apply it, mark it done, or dismiss it.

    What lands in the queue

Every fix comes from something Doug saw: an assistant that gave your old phone number, a question nobody in your town answers well, a directory the answers keep citing where you aren't listed. The fixes fall into a few groups.

    • Wrong facts: an assistant, Google, or a directory shows the wrong phone, hours, price, or address.
    • Google profile: missing hours, a stale website link, or a category that doesn't match what you do.
    • Pages: a service page, a page for a town you serve, an FAQ answer, or a guide for a question customers keep asking.
    • Page refreshes and site health: an old page that needs updating, missing titles or alt text, a page Google hasn't picked up.
    • Reviews: a drafted reply for each new Google review.
    • Directories: a listing the assistants trust that you should claim or correct.
    • Website markup: the structured data that tells Google what your business is and where it works.

    How you work it

Open a fix and the draft is right there. For a page, you read it, fill in anything in brackets that only you know, like a price or a warranty length, and publish it to your site. If your site is hard to change, Doug can publish to a subdomain like services.yourcompany.com instead. For a Google profile fix, connect your profile once and apply the change from the fix itself.

Some fixes are things only you can do, like claiming a directory listing that needs your login or turning on review requests. Those say so plainly.

Dismiss what you disagree with and it stays dismissed. Doug won't raise the same fix again next week. He also adds new items a few at a time, so a first run doesn't bury you in a hundred tasks.

    Clear your first five fixes

    1. Open the fix queue and start with any Wrong facts items.
    2. Connect your Google Business Profile and apply the profile fixes from the queue.
    3. Read one drafted service page, fill in the bracketed details, and publish it.
    4. Approve the drafted replies to your newest Google reviews.
    5. Dismiss anything that doesn't fit your business so it stops coming back.

    Common mistakes

    • Publishing a drafted page without filling in the bracketed details only you know.
    • Leaving wrong facts for later, when a bad phone number costs you calls every day it stays up.
    • Letting the queue pile up for a month instead of spending fifteen minutes on it each week.
